'Fuckity Fuck Cancer' Charity Scarf
The Fuckity Fuck Cancer merino scarf. Knitted in memorial of Fiona, designed by her cousin, this soft and cosy scarf is knitted and sold with all proceeds being donated to charities.
The story of the scarf, told by her husband Andrew is below:
Wendy loved singing. And not only did she sing with a number of choirs, but she was equally comfortable - and accomplished - as a soloist. Wendy and Andrew were both second-time-rounders and met on Match.com in August 2008, a few years after Wendy had received treatment for breast cancer, and they married in October 2010.
She was the proud mother of two boys and two bonus girls, all of whom she got to see marry, and they went on to have six grandchildren… Who she absolutely loved spending time with. Wendy cared for everyone and raised money for a variety of charities. As time went on she spent time decluttering, giving away everything she had raised.
Sadly, in 2021 she was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer which was found to be BRCA based. It’s a gene that was passed on to her from her father and one that has also been passed on to her two boys. This gave her the opportunity to take a relatively new drug which gave us time to be together and the chance to make so many amazing memories, ticking off some of the bucket list. She latterly put her energy into challenging a planning application to create a large stadium at the end of our road, setting up an action group, at the same time singing with Sheffield Cancer Choir and Albion, who she loved dearly, supported and followed for a number of years.
Wendy was clear that it was not a battle against cancer and having had a number of chemotherapy sessions - she would not wish them on anyone else. Both of us, by the time she died, had a diagnosis of cancer and she raised funds for cancer care and research whilst she was alive... I would love that legacy to continue.
The scarf was designed, knitted and sent to her by her cousin, Pauline Lancaster, as a surprise. She generously gave Andrew the copyright. Enjoy the sentiment and wear with pride, showing that we want to put an end to cancer. All profits will be put into a trust fund set up in her name in order to support cancer charities. This would be a continuation of the wonderful celebration of her life in January 2025.
All scarves are knitted with 100% merino wool and made to order. Please allow up to two weeks before shipping.
The scarf is two sided meaning you the pattern is not disrupted depending on which side is being worn.
