Knit a Vest - 3 Day Workshop
April 24th - 26th 2026
The first workshop of it’s kind. This is a new 3 day workshop running from Friday 24th April 10am through to Sunday 26th April 4:30pm in which you will knit out a vest. We will work with a intricate Fair Isle pattern than will already be provided. You are also welcome to knit a simpler version with stripes or block colouring.
Sizes will be worked as XS, S, M, L, XL but we will be able to modify the patterns to an extent to fit you better.
Day 1: The Basics
On this day you will get to know the machine and it’s functions if you do not know the machines already. We will go through all the processes you will need to knit the vest, from working the punch-cards, changing colour, moving stitches and casting on and off.
We will look into the pattern of the vest and talk through the sizes and basic modifications. This is also the day we will knit a tension swatch ready to go the following day.
Day 2: Knitting
On this day we will focus on knitting. Working the front of the vest and getting as far as possible with the back of the vest.
Day 3: Finishing and construction.
This is the final day to knit. We will focus on finishings and trims and then constructing the whole vest together. If we do not finish constructing the vest, we will talk through methods you can use at home in your own time.
Please note: I cannot guarantee you will take home a finished vest. Any constructing that needs completing will need to be done in your own time once the workshop has finished.
All yarns will be provided as well as a print out of the pattern for you to take home along with your vest.
I have both Silver Reed and Brother machines available for you to use, however you are more than welcome to bring your own.
Workshops will run on site in the new studio in Ovenden, Halifax from 10am - 4:30pm approx. Please also note, the Useless Studio Assistant may join, so there may be a dog in the workshop. Other dogs are welcome if you wish to bring yours, please just let me know in advance.
