Origami Knitted Crane 9/1000

£25.00
Only 1 available

Crane Number 9/1000. Turquoise knitted origami crane.

The origami crane is originally a Japanese symbol for peace, love, hope and healing with paper cranes being gifted to wish them well. The idea that someone who has folded 1000 cranes will be granted a wish is still a tradition today. This is the 9th crane knitted in the not-quite-but-technically-limited series of 1000.

Knitted purely for fun, this knitted origami crane is a fun gift or trinket for anyone, childlike or adult. Knitted all in one with the folds integrated into the structure, the crane can be unfolded and folded up again countless times and the structure will still remain.

Place them on the mantle place, bookshelves or hang them from the ceiling, the choice is all yours.

Knitted with a wool exterior the structural yarn in the centre will hold the form and shape.

Each crane takes 12 minutes to knit on the industrial Shima machine, and then a further 5 minuted to finish, steam and fold into place.

It is advised to give the crane a gentle steam to unfold the wings a little more once it arrives. Use the steam function on the iron and hold it a couple of centimetres away from the top and steam until you watch the wings gently relax down. Leave the crane to cool.

Care:

If needed, this crane can be very gently washed in knit detergent by hand. Leave to soak then press out the water with the crane folded in shape. Leave to dry. Do not wring or place in the washing machine.
