Structural Stitches - A Machine Knitter's Guide to Creating Form and Texture (Hardback)
I’ve written a book!! And here is it. I spent the whole of 2024 writing a book all about form and structure within machine knitting. Published in October 2025, this book is perfect for you domestic machine knitters (of all gauges) and those who like the V bed machines. Although not specifically for industrial power knitting, the techniques and methods can be translated to Stoll and Shima.
Please note, I am waiting for my order of copies from the publisher so there may be a slight delay in shipping, but they are on their way.
All books purchased will be signed.
Synopsis:
Machine knitting opens up an unlimited exploration of textures, patterns and materials that are suitable not only for garments, but also for soft furnishings and statement interior pieces.
By exploring combinations of both stitch structures and yarn choices, this book will introduce you to creative techniques, both familiar and new, and encourage you to push the typical parameters of knit. The extensive stitch library explores form building, textures and three-dimensional techniques that will help develop your foundational knowledge of machine knitting.
Appropriate for all machine knitters who have explored the basics, each chapter focuses on the fundamentals of a technique before developing them into more creative compositions. Suitable for knitters with a single- or double-bed domestic machine, or for those with a V-bed, the techniques are described in detail alongside inspirational images and clear charts, making this book the perfect tool for students, designers, researchers and home knitters.
Contents:
Chapter 1: Partial Knit
Chapter 2: Lifted Stitches and Ottoman
Chapter 3: Transfers and Rib Structures
Chapter 4: Pleats Folds
